Quarantine

By Trish Lewis on Nov 24, 08 11:13 AM

BRAINS! BRAINS! BRAINS!

Well maybe not so much brains but blood is the food of choice for zombies in this latest horror-flick like so many others of the genre's modern counterparts.

As the name very unsubtly hints at, Quarantine is set in a block of flats in Los Angeles that becomes isolated by the military for seemingly no reason. The disorientated and confused residents are left panic-stricken as they try to figure out why this has happened to them all the while trying to find a means of escape.

But it becomes apparent very quickly that there is something not quite right about the neighbour the fire department were called out to check-on...

The film follows a reporter and her cameraman who are shadowing the work of the city's fire department for one night for the local TV Station. Becoming trapped inside the block of apartments with the residents we see the unfolding living-nightmare that has befallen the group of strangers.

So you can expect wibbly-wobbly camera work a plenty, a lot of shouting and frequent zombie attacks galore as the film gears itself into full throttle. Running along the same vein as the Blair Witch Project with the acceptance of not being absolutely crap, Quarantine manages to deliver a pacy and often very believable series of reactions from it's cast.

It might fail to be the most scariest film in the world and you can see the predicitible ending coming from a mile away but you will feel a certain edginess watching it as the plot progresses. And if not you will laugh at the unimaginative and often bluntly crude methods characters use to dispatch zombies.

Quarantine is in reality one of those small budget productions that very few will go see but it is a good little gem for horror fans and zombie fanatics.
